Tonal Value Recession
In this workshop we explore in some detail the use of tonal value recession to enhance the illusion of depth in your painting. This session will help to ground you in using tonal value recession as well as contrast to create depth in all your paintings.
Colour mixing from primary colours
In this workshop we will explore how to mix colours starting with the primary colours and working from these to create a multitude of colours that we use in our paintings. We will then put this into practice by completing a proof of concept painting.
Colour Recession
In this workshop we explore, in some detail, the use of colour recession to enhance the illusion of depth in your painting. We will then explore the mixing of colours and their relative place in the cool or warm scale. We will then paint a full colour painting using colour values (cold to warm) to create a painting with lots of depth.
Proof of Concept Colour Value and Colour Recession
In this workshop we will put into practice the lessons learned in the previous two classes and create two scenarios
of the same scene side by side. One painted in gray tone only and one painted in colour. Both methods may be used to enhance the illusion of depth in a painting.
Perspective
In this workshop we will explore, in some detail, the use of vanishing points and linear perspective as commonly used in artwork. We will work on laying out a scene that incorporates elements that use perspective to enhance the feeling of depth and space in the painting.
Composition
Understanding and then putting into practice the three most popular methods of producing a pleasing composition: Rule of thirds, Golden rectangle / Fibonacci and Rabatment.
Please note:
These classes are in addition to the monthly workshops held in the other cities.
